FAQ
Find Answers to Your Questions Quickly
Do you have questions about repair, maintenance, or parts for your heavy truck? Check our frequently asked questions for clear answers about our services, warranties, and processes.
How long does a heavy truck repair typically take?
The timeline varies depending on work complexity and parts availability. Electronic diagnostics can often be completed within a day, while brake or electrical system repairs typically take from a few hours to one day. Major reconditioning services (engine or transmission) require several days. We offer an exchange system for certain services to minimize your downtime.
What is the difference between an in-frame repair and complete engine reconditioning?
In-frame repair allows us to recondition your engine without completely removing it from the vehicle, reducing costs and downtime. Technicians replace worn components directly in the chassis. Complete reconditioning involves total engine disassembly out of the vehicle for in-depth rebuild in the shop, allowing detailed inspection of all internal components. The choice depends on your engine's condition and your needs.
How often should I perform preventive maintenance on my heavy truck?
Preventive maintenance frequency depends on several factors: mileage travelled, type of use (local vs. long-haul), driving conditions, and manufacturer recommendations. In Quebec, SAAQ requires periodic mechanical inspections for heavy vehicles. A regular preventive maintenance program (PMP) with written reports helps you meet standards and prevent costly breakdowns. Consult with us to establish a maintenance schedule adapted to your fleet.
Do you offer maintenance services for recreational vehicles?
Yes, we repair and maintain recreational vehicles in addition to heavy trucks. Our technicians have the expertise to work on diesel engines and RV mechanical systems. Whether for electronic diagnostics, brake system repair, preventive maintenance, or parts, we serve recreational vehicle owners throughout Montérégie.
Do you only work on Mack and Volvo trucks?
No, although we specialize in Mack and Volvo trucks, we offer our services for all heavy truck brands and medium-duty diesel vehicles. Our technicians are qualified to diagnose and repair Cummins, Detroit, Caterpillar engines, and Alison transmissions. We have the cutting-edge Noregon diagnostic equipment (including Bendix and Meritor), Freightliner, Volvo, and Mack necessary to work on all electronic systems from different manufacturers.
What warranties do you offer on your repairs and parts?
We offer 1 to 3-year warranties on parts and labour depending on services. PAI Industries parts we sell are covered by warranties ranging from 12 months (Excel) to 3 years (HP High-Performance) with unlimited mileage. For all other mechanical components, we offer a national warranty on parts and labour. As a TruckPro network member, we also offer a national 12-month warranty honoured at 120 shops across Canada.
Do you keep parts in inventory or do you need to order them?
As the official PAI Industries distributor in Quebec and TruckPro network member, we have access to a vast selection of parts for all heavy truck brands. We keep several common parts in inventory and use our cross-reference system to quickly find necessary parts. For specialized parts, we can typically obtain them quickly through our network. We also offer delivery within a 50 km radius of Boucherville to minimize your downtime.
Can I get a diagnosis without having my truck repaired at your shop?
Yes, we offer independent electronic diagnostic services. Our technicians use cutting-edge Noregon equipment (including Bendix and Meritor), Freightliner, Volvo, and Mack to accurately identify problems with your engine, transmission, or ABS systems. Diagnostics are the essential first step to determine necessary repairs. Once diagnostics are completed, you receive a free detailed quote outlining recommended work. You're free to decide where to have repairs performed.
How does your exchange system for engines, transmissions, and differentials work?
Our exchange system allows you to get your truck back on the road quickly by installing a reconditioned unit immediately. You receive a tested and guaranteed engine, transmission, or differential, significantly minimizing your downtime. Reconditioned units are available for engines, transmissions, and differentials. This service is particularly beneficial for operators who cannot afford to immobilize their truck for several days.
